Goodie Filled Post

This is going to be a long, picture filled post. The mailman and UPS man brought lots of goodies to my door....weee!

The lunar eclipse from the other night.

My camera doesn't zoom in close enough for a super shot but this one that Shawn took wasn't too bad. The sky was clear so we had an excellent view of it. Kaity found it fascinating and Bree could care less what was going on.

The mailman brought me a box filled with Loopy goodness.

Dsc04102
This is the stuff I ordered from The Loopy Ewe. Three different colors of Sakina Needles BFL Roving and DIC Smooshy in Spring Tickle and Go Go Grassy. I have a real obsession with Smooshy right now.

I received this in the mail the other day but wasn't going to create a blog post for one thing.

Dsc04125
It's a mini crochet key chain by 5elementknitr. I got this one after reading about it on Nell's blog. Here's the etsy link. Definitely a must have for every knitter.

Oh look, cute baby.

Dsc04099
Thought I'd throw that in to break up all the enabling. Back to the drool fest.

My baby still in her packaging.

Dsc04114
All her parts laid out on the floor ready for assembly.

Dsc04116
Assembly was fun but took awhile. Putting together a spinning wheel is not something to do if your in a hurry. I put it together while watching reruns of Crossing Jordan on A&E. I really wished they wouldn't have canceled this show. A&E is currently my favorite TV channel and is the reason I'm hooked on CSI: Miami.

Here she is all put together.

Dsc04122
Preeeecious, My Precious (gotta use Gollum's voice from Lord of the Rings). You know the voice, the one he uses when he's petting the One Ring. Yes, I love Lord of the Rings and yes I read the books way before the movies were ever thought of.

Oh look my very first skein of over twisted fluff.

Dsc04133
This is a small amount that I spun last night. It's not the prettiest in the world but it's a start and I'm proud of my over twisted bit of fluff. I'm going to try to spin some more after I get Bree down for her nap this afternoon.

Alright, I've finally made it through all the pics. I should be seeing a box from Wool Girl soon carrying a couple skeins of sock yarn and a new sample knit! I'm planning on ordering from her again this payday. I want to pick up Knitspot's Bee Fields Shawl pattern and enough Malabrigo lace to knit it. I don't wear shawls but I want to knit them. Guess they'll make great decorations. Anyone have creative ideas for shawls?

Long Night

Kaity woke up around 10:30pm sick to her stomach so I'm up for the whole night. Poor kid! I hate having to stay up all night but on the bright side I always get a lot of knitting done....nothing better to do in between Kaity's naps. I'm sure I'll have a nice WIP update in a day or two since it's already 1:40am and I am almost finished with the front half of Bree's Thinking Dress....what wonderful cabley goodness!

I received my package from TLE.

Dsc03785
I bought one skein of Wollmeise, color Lowenzahn. The base yarn feels different then any other superwash merino I've felt. The colors are gorgeous, yummy greens with hints of yellow. I can't wait to find the perfect pattern for this yarn!

The fiber is 4oz of BFL dyed by Sakina Needles, color Callow Lily. I'm collecting fiber but haven't quite figured out how to spin. Not that I'm worried about figuring it out. I'm determined, I'll figure it out.

I also bought a cute little heart tape measure for my knitting bag. I'm hoping for a coffee mug when they are in stock again and I read tonight in the Loopy Groupie Ravelry discussion board that Sheri and the rest of the TLE gang are putting the stuff together for t-shirts. I may be suckered tempted into buying one.

This whole package makes staying up all night easier to take. For a pick me up I can always go into the stash room and pet my new yarn and fiber.

Goodies & Dress Updates

I received the fiber I order from Susie (Perchance to Knit).  She was destashing a bit and I thought I'd help her out.  ;~)

Dscn0817

The bag of rainbow is Merino and the other bag is a good variety of different types of fibers for me to try.  So between what I received from Colleen for my B-day and what I bought from Susie I may just have enough to keep me busy for a little while....put a big emphasis on "may".  :~)

Now this was a tad disappointing last night.  Look at what I have left on Kaity's dress:

Dscn0819

I'm coming down with some kind of damn cold and haven't been feeling all that well.  I just couldn't finish the i-cord last night.  I have about 6" of i-cord to do and I can block this baby.  I think after the pieces are seamed together, I'm going to single crochet around the armholes too just to give them a neater appearance.  Next time, I'm knitting this baby in the round.  I'll have to sit down with the pattern and work up the changes before I start the next one.  :~)

I'll leave you with a pic that Kaity took the other day:

Dscn0814

Yes I let my 6 year old use the camera.  It's one of those Nikon Coolpix cameras so they're small and lightweight.  I won't let her use the Sony which costs more and weighs more.  She does a pretty good job of taking pics if I must say.
I may look into getting her a better camera for her b-day next year.  Right now she has one of those Fisher Price kid camera's, which is a great camera for any of you that have kids or grandkids around 3-5 years old.  I think they run about $45-50.  The darn things really are tough, Kaity's dropped her on carpet, down stairs, on tile floor plus it's digital and comes with it's own software which is not Mac compatible but I've found none of them are.  We can pull the pictures off the camera using iphoto but we can't use the editing software that came with the camera.  It's been a great camera but I think she's ready for something better.
Well I'm off to enjoy my afternoon of peace and quiet.

Monkey's & B-Day Present

I got this in from Colleen this morning:

Dscn0697

For my b-day she sent me all sorts of wonderful goodies to get me started on spinning.  I got all the stuff I need to make my own spindle, plus she also sent merino, alpaca, wool blends....all sorts of fibery goodness.  So you all can guess what I'll be doing after all has quieted down in the luvs2knit household.   :~)

I also have update pics of my moms socks.  I've got about 1.5" to go before starting the toe decreases.  My mom's foots a tad shorter then mine so it may fit on my sock blocker.  I'll probably finish up the second sock tonight or tomorrow night.

Dscn0698

Well I'm outta here for now.  Hope you all are having a great weekend.  Happy knitting!

Mail, Socks and Such

My wonderful mailman was kind enough to bring me my box from Knit Picks....WooHoo! Dsc02675 So you all can probably guess what I'll be knitting on constantly....yup you guessed it Monkey socks.  I've been holding out on the Monkey socks for my Knit Picks DPN's.  The only ones I had that are pointy are 8" long and that's too long for sock knitting, at least for me.

Last night I finished up the first plain jane socks for myself.  It fits great.  Doesn't Skitz make a lovely background for sock pictures?  This would make for an interesting entry into Sheri's photo gallery "Socks On Trees (and such).  I think this one would fall into the and such part....lol.  Now that I have my needles in these socks will have to sit to the side for now.  I need to get the Monkey socks done first. Dsc02668_2

Well I'm off to go get Bree down for a nap, get something to eat, finish the laundry, squeeze in some knitting time, perform surgery on Hello Kitty's foot, etc, etc, etc.  My list would go on and on.  A mom's work is never done.  :~)  Of course if you ask Kaity the only think important is to get her Hello Kitty sewed up.  The poor Kitty has a 2 inch hole in one of her feet.  This is the Hello Kitty Build-A-Bear stuffed animal that Kaity and Shawn made a special trip to Boise for.  She bought it with her B-day money my parents sent her.

And now I leave you with a cutie pic of Firefighter Bree.  Kaity had a Daisy Scout field trip to the fire station here on base and she brought an extra hat home for her sis.  Doesn't she look so serious?  :~) Dsc02666
